All challenges conquered

With each new issue of woman&home magazine I am presented with new challenges. In our August issue I was challenged to find the ideal location to photograph our marvellous celebrities for the feature What I See in the Mirror. After scouting around for a few days, my search was proving to be unsuccessful so a re-evaluation of the situation was needed and I gave the lovely Lize from St. Leger & Viney (www.stleger.co.za) a call. To my great surprise they had the hot pink Cole & Sons, Woods wallpaper I had been so desperately trying to find.

Now that I had the wallpaper the next challenge arose… how to mount it? With lots of brainstorming I came up with the ideal solution - to mount the wallpaper with clothing pins to two polystyrene boards. On the Sunday, I believe when winter had finally hit Jo’burg, Richard (my very supportive boyfriend) and I had spent a whopping four hours trying to pin and line up the pattern to the very line. I then sourced the chair from Casarredo Home Interiors (www.casarredo.co.za) and the Mirror from Hartmann & Keppler Interiors (www.hartmannandkeppler.co.za), which pulled the whole concept together and led to a very successful and stylish outcome.

One thing I love about my job is all the interesting people I get to meet. For the feature We Love Local Life I got to meet five of Jo’burg’s most significant women who all contribute to local life in a BIG way. The ultimate setting for our meeting was Le Château (www.le-chateau.co.za). The day was filled with conversations about how Denise thought that a certain dress was just not her, which turned out to be a show-stopper in the end. And what position to sit in to give your body those ‘Va Va Voom’ curves as Kathy can easily demonstrate. Overall, the day was full of giggles and laughs with five wonderful ladies.

I hope to elighten you again next time.

Until then, take care!
